Children's Ministries Minimize

Train children in the right way, and when they are old, they will not stray. (Proverbs 22:6)

Through our varied ministries we seek to provide experiences where each child comes to know the love of God through Jesus Christ, learns the stories of God's graciousness care and discovers her or his place in the family of faith.

Sunday Mornings

Nursery: Children are welcomed into the infant nursery as soon as parents are comfortable leaving them. We have very capable and loving volunteers to care for children every Sunday morning. Our facilities are safe and welcoming. Infants through children who have begun to walk are welcomed each Sunday! Child care is provided for Sunday service and educational time.

Children's Activity Time: Children who are ages 3 to 5 depart halfway through the morning worship to join in a fun-filled time of activity and learning crafted just for them! Our activity room staff are excited to share the love of Christ with children, and your kids are invited to come experience the fun while getting to know more about God's love.

Children's Worship: Children who are from Kindergarten to 5th grade leave halfway through the morning worship to participate in a worship experience designed especially for them. This kid-friendly program encourages lots of movement, creativity, and hands-on experiences all while learning more about their Savior.

Sunday School: We invite Kindergarten through 12th graders to attend Sunday school: a place to come to faith, and be encouraged to live in faith. This is a place where our main target is for kids to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. These classes are held September through May at 9:00 am at the same time as adult classes.

Godly Play: Godly Play is a special Sunday School class for preschool children ages 3-5. It's goal is to stimulate children's active participation in Bible stories and to awaken their creativity for the learning of the language, sacred stories, parables, liturgical action and silence of the Christian tradition.

Midweek Activities

LOGOS is a Wednesday after-school program from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. which includes a full meal, lots of fun activities, crafts, games, and learning opportunities. The goal of LOGOS is to help boys and girls, grades 2 through 5, to grow spiritually in all areas of life. Christian adults will provide a uniquely structured program, which takes place from September through March. It's like a week of camp all rolled into a single afternoon!

The Logos Choir is part of this on-going youth program and sings regularly in our worship services. Their meeting time is Wednesday evenings. The students use their talents to serve God by participating monthly in worship. Last year, they even put on a musical!

Youth Ministries Minimize

Don't let anyone look down on you for being young. Instead, make your speech, behavior, love, faith, and purity an example for other believers. (1 Timothy 4:12)

Our Youth ministry for Junior and Senior High students (grades 7-12) is dedicated to providing opportunities for teens to explore their faith and to put into practice their own gifts for ministry.

Sunday Mornings

Church School classes for grades 7-12 are offered from 9:00-10:00 a.m. each Sunday morning (during the regular school year). And since the Men's group meets in the Senior High room early on Sunday mornings, there is usually a good supply of donuts on hand for class! Come join us for morning music to wake you up and conversation that can make a difference in your life.

Youth Group Meetings

Join us each Sunday evening, at 6PM, when our Senior High meets for that evening's program.

Junior High youth meet each Wednesday at 5:30PM for their special program.

During the summer you'll want to be sure to join us for Mystery Mission Wednesdays!  Gather at the church and venture out on a Mystery Mission Trip for the day, usually followed by something way cool.  (As if a Mystery Mission Trip weren't cool enough of itself!)

Other Programs

Teens are a valuable and important part of the ministry of the church body. One of our main ministries is helping put on the Vacation Bible School in the summer. We also work together on a Summer Mission Trip where we can use our skills, talents, attitudes, and abilities to share Christ's love with a hurting world.

Summer Camps are available through the ministry of Tall Timber Camp.

Adult Ministries Minimize

Sunday morning adult classes are offered from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, during the regular school year. The offerings include Bible study, and topics related to contemporary issues.

Wednesday morning Bible Study meets from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, led by Pastor  Charlie Lewis. Participants explore the Revised Common Lectionary readings for the week.

Small group studies organize and meet each year during the Lenten Season to prepare participants to enter in more fully into the celebration of Christ's resurrection.

New member classes are offered twice a year as an opportunity for new friends to explore the meaning of the covenant relationship of faith community.

Prayers & Squares (a quilting group) meets Tuesdays from 9:30-noon, to create wonderful quilts that are shared and/or given to those who need to feel the prayers of their church family around them.  No experience is needed to join this group.  If you can tie a knot, you'll do just fine.  The ladies are happy to start you off wherever you're comfortable, and will teach you what you need to know.  Your presence and your prayers are the most important thing needed.

Senior Game Day is offered the third Tuesday of the month (during the school year).  Join us from 1-3 PM for a time of fun and fellowship.

Round Robin Dinners are organized in the Spring and offer a wonderful way to spend time together in fellowship.

Music plays an important role in our worship as we express our love, joy, commitment, adoration, repentance and praise to our Creator. The music ministry at First Presbyterian Church is committed to facilitating worship through vocal and instrumental ensembles and solos.

The Chancel Choir membership is open to all who love to sing and are able to commit to rehearsals. Brent McGee, our minister of music, directs the choir, rehearsing every Wednesday, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

The Bell Choir invites anyone interested to join them.  You don't need to know how to read music, just need to be inclined to make a joyful noise, we'll help you with the rest.  The Bell Choir rehearses on Thursday nights at 7:00 PM.
